Murder?

Did you have a sense behind Gillian's final actions at the Harrow household -- drugged accident? Justifiable homicide? Plain old murder? What did Gillian think she did?

  1. I felt that she knew what she was doing. If it wasn't intentional per se, it was at least recklessly indifferent. Maybe the drugs played a role, but she seemed fairly lucid to me.

I didn't feel a lot of emotion for anyone in this story, really. The Harrows seemed to get what they cosmically deserved. And Gillian and some of the girls just seemed so strange and out-there to me that it was hard to muster a ton of sympathy. The whole thing felt more like a snapshot of a screwed-up era than a look at human individuals with human problems/concerns. Maybe that's harsh ...

  2. I also thought her actions were intentional, although it was sort of murky. She described it as if she were on autopilot. Like how she wasn't sure why she moved the paintings near the couch. Do you think she felt any remorse? I couldn't really tell what her emotions were.

I didn't have much sympathy for anyone, either. They were all screwed up in kind of an annoying way, as you say.
