Ooh, excellent question! I suppose I was more appalled by the lawyers and insurance companies. Maybe I'm more sympathetic to crimes of passion or emotion or whatever than I am to systematic corruption.
I was too, but I hadn't put my thumb on why, until you said systematic corruption. Yes, that's it. There's a difference between basically decent people doing a bad or even terrible thing here or there and people who embrace wrongdoing as a way of life.
