Did you get the sense that Gillian was responsible for all of the fires, or maybe it was another student? I don't think the book was supposed to be conclusive, but I'm curious if you ferreted out more clues than I did.
My impression was that Gillian was simply inspired by the previous fires, which she had found somewhat romantic and exciting and for some reason were tied to Andre and Dorcas in her mind. I thought the same thing was likely true of Marisa, who started the fire in the dorm basement.
I couldn't figure that out either. Maybe the other fires gave her the idea?
